Bachelor’s Programme in Biomedicine

I learned a lot about how it is to work in a lab in Canada, and of course I got to perform experiments for my own projects as well.

Exchange student at University of British Columbia (UBC)

When can I study abroad?

Semester 4-5

You can study courses abroad during semesters 4 and 5. Theoretical courses can be exchanged provided that these can be matched with similar courses at partner universities. Most students take a full semester (20 weeks). It is important to note that if you are abroad on semester 5, you will need to prepare a project plan for the thesis (part of the preparatory course BIMB51) in order to be admitted to the thesis course BIMK60 at semester 6 (please discuss details with the coordinator and/or the academic contact person for outgoing students).

Semester 6

The degree project can be preformed abroad. Most partner universities can accept students to write degree projects. However, you need to be admitted to the thesis course BIMK60 in Lund and have a supervisor both in Lund and at the receiving partner.  The examination will be done at Lund University and you need to be back in Lund for the final part of the thesis course (approximately mid May).

An important note is that we currently do not recommend being abroad for both semester 5 and 6, since you need al least one of the thesis preparatory course BIMB51 or the thesis course BIMK60 in Lund. You can still chose to be abroad for a year starting with semester 5, but then you have to be aware that you need to take the thesis course the following spring.
